The Problem

What We Did

We corrected the apron slope to ensure positive drainage to the road, then excavated and replaced the aggregate base at the saturated zone with clean compacted stone. Full-depth asphalt on the corrected base, sealed after cure. Because they’re close to the river and the ambient moisture is higher than the western Bergen County towns, we recommended a slightly shorter resealing interval — every two years rather than three.

The Outcome
The soft spot is gone and has stayed gone through one wet spring. The apron drains to the street the way it should. The homeowner said their brother-in-law’s recommendation held up exactly as promised.
